The good old cardboard box! One of our families kindly gifted a few big boxes to us and they are proving fantastic value on our small covered deck area during today’s wet weather.
A cool thing about box play is that it allows children to see themselves in relation to something else, me inside the box, me next to the box etc. It also provides opportunities for children to consider volume, can my body if in this space? What if I change the shape of my body? Can I fit in the box with my friends or my favorite toy? Lots of cool early Maths concepts to explore. Hours of endless fun for all!
What changes to your learning environment do you make when it is too wet to go outside?
