So, today I set up a block provocation with the assistance of my student teacher. We extended the possibilities for play by including animals, fabric and carpet samples, recycled materials (boxes and jars) and natural materials (shells and clay). It was nice indoor work for a wet, rainy morning.
What I love best about block play is that it is never finished, but is constantly being demolished and rebuilt (not unlike a real city). It changes and grows as each child makes their individual contribution.
